Direct flights to Chiang Mai airport are now possible from Samui, Phuket, Hong Kong, Kunming, Jinghong, Kaohsiung, Kuala Lumpar, Luang Phrabang, Mandalay, Manila, Seoul, Siem Reap, Singapore and Taipei.

Local public transport is also available, tuk tuks, songthaews, buses and metered taxis are readily available from the airport and shopping malls, and for those brave enough to venture out onto the city roads, motor bike hire, and car hire is readily available and cheap.
